RISKS
Boarding your pet in ANY facility brings with it an inherent risk of your pet contracting contagious diseases and other ailments such as Upper Respiratory Infections in Cats, Bordetella (Kennel Cough) in Dogs, as well as intestinal parasites, fleas, and ticks. The risk can be even greater in a veterinary hospital where animals with these illnesses may be hospitalized.

Even with the precautions detailed below, it is impossible both to predict when a contagious animal may come into the hospital and to completely remove the possibility of that animal passing its illness on to other pets while it is here.

The most common infections passed from pet to pet in a boarding facility are simply the “colds” of the animal world. As in humans, they are transmitted very easily from animal to animal. And much like human viruses, the best treatment is simply rest and time. Also, like the human Flu vaccine, pet vaccines are not 100% effective and even vaccinated animals may still acquire these infections. In these cases however, the severity of the infection is usually lessened. An infection typically lasts from 7-10 days. It is always best to contact your veterinarian in case of the possibility that the infection is bacterial and may be treated using antibiotics.

PROCEDURES
Here at 7 Hills, we make every effort to prevent the spread of any potentially infectious threat. We do this by maintaining strict vaccine & stool sample requirements for boarding pets, isolating any animals that we feel may be contagious in a dedicated isolation room, and thoroughly cleaning cages and runs with an antibacterial & antiviral disinfectant throughout the day.

POLICIES
Pets boarding with us MUST have had a negative stool exam within the past 6 months AND have the following vaccinations up-to-date:

Cats: FEVCR/CH (Feline Distemper vaccine for Upper Resp Infections), Rabies vaccine

Dogs: DHLP/P (Canine Distemper vaccine), Rabies vaccine, Bordetella (Kennel Cough) vaccine

Please read the statements below and agree to them by signing in the signature area of the online form:

I understand that my pets are required to be up-to-date on the vaccines and a negative fecal exam as listed above and that if I cannot produce proof of vaccination or fecal exam, 7 Hills Animal Hospital will administer the vaccinations or stool exam at my expense.

I understand that my pet should be on a monthly flea preventative and that if fleas are found on my pet, a flea treatment will be administered at my expense.

I understand my pets will be in close proximity to other animals and that there is an inherent risk of infectious disease when boarding my pet in any boarding facility, especially a veterinary hospital. I assume all financial responsibility should my pet contract an illness or other ailment while boarding at 7 Hills Animal Hospital.
